What wonderful weather we had for most of August! The girls made the most of the weather with lots of trips to parks, nature reserves and library to name but a few.
September is a busy month with a few key dates for your diaries.
Zoolab have been booked in on 20th September to visit each room, introducing the children to some more of the ‘unusual variety’ of animals. These will include Millie the millipede, a tarantula, snakes, lizards etc. In the past the children have been fascinated with their encounter and have learned a great deal about the animals and their habitats too.
Friday 21st September is Jeans for Genes day. This is such a wonderful charity that we support every year to raise money for the 500,00 children in the UK suffering with genetic disorders. We invite you to dress your children in Demin for the day and pay a donation to the collection box. The team will be creating activities for the children around this theme to help raise awareness in this subject.
Our twice-yearly parents’ evening will take place at the end of September on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th from 6.15 to 8.00pm. Please look out for the timetable in the rooms around the middle of the month.
FYI, we have cancelled the Superstar Sports coaching sessions as we were getting a different coach each week who did not know the children and therefore, were not getting the best out of them and they were not enjoying the sessions as they should. After some extensive research, we have found a company called Toddler City. They offer sports and sensory sessions lasting half an hour in each of the rooms with sensory activities for the baby room and sports activities for toddlers and Preschool. Sensory classes include activities to encourage and motivate the development of smell, movement, balance and sight. They will start on Tuesday 4th September and we will be changing the day each term to capture as many different children as possible over the course of the year. Drama lessons remain.
Can we politely remind you to inform us of impending holiday dates for the sake of safeguarding. It also allows us to give more flexibility to parents who need extra sessions and for forward planning around children’s transitions dates to new rooms in the nursery.
Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the parent’s forum this month. We hope you found it as useful as we did, and we look forward to the next one.
